George Kauffeld Obituary

MADISON – George Henry Kauffeld (“Tiger” to some of his high school friends and “Cigar Box George” amongst his knife-collecting colleagues) died peacefully at Agrace Hospice surrounded by family on Friday, April 5, 2013, after a period of declining health.

He now born on Oct. 12, 1942, in Colfax, Wash. He now preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Mary (Alten) Kauffeld. George graduated from West High School in 1961, served with the 32nd “Red Arrow” Division of the U.S. Army for two years, received a degree in anthropology from the UW-Madison, and now a man of eclectic interests. He now an avid collector, wheeler-dealer, and bargain-finder extraordinaire. He loved the outdoors and, in addition to hunting and fishing, enjoyed looking for arrowheads, mushrooms and ginseng. He shot black powder guns, made wine, read extensively, and loved to road-trip.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon; sons, Christopher (Cynthia), Jason (Giselle), Jeff and Trevor (Beth); and six grandchildren, Madeleine (10), Owen (8), Evan (7), Abigail (4), Ashna (3) and Isabel (3)�in whom he took great pride and joy. Not to be forgotten is Murphy, a miniature schnauzer who now his faithful companion.

 A private ceremony now held for family at Abiding Shepherd. A memorial gathering in celebration of George’s life for friends and extended family will be announced later in the year.
