Andrew Stephen Halpern He was born July 29, 1939, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Israel and Sylvia (Flanders) Halpern. He married Elizabeth “Betsy” Paddock on June 11, 1966, in Madison, Wis. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Carleton College, a master’s degree at Yale University and a doctorate at University of Wisconsin. He worked as a professor at State University of New York at Buffalo and the University of Texas, and in the College of Education at the University of Oregon specializing in special education. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Stacey Halpern of Portland; a son,
Benjamin of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a brother, Richard of La Grange, Ill.; a
sister, Judy Halpern of Chicago; and one grandchild. |
